Jessica Alba: Flipper Star Still Enjoying Flippin’ Success
Talk about a workaholic kid! Incredibly natural and talented Jessica Marie Alba is best remembered for Flipper which she first started filming in Australia. That was in 1995. Owing to the success of the show, Jessica rejoined the crew and began filming the second season. Perhaps her fans are not aware of this one tiny detail, but Jessica Alba is a certified scuba diver – which is why she had truckloads of fun filming the series.
The young lady actually started working sometime after her 12th year when she finished her acting class. She was already an established child actress by the time she appeared in Flipper. Before this series, her very first role was in Camp Nowhere in 1993. Somehow, Jessica got lucky and landed a permanent role when the actress who was originally assigned to the role dropped out. A series of commercials for Nintendo and JC Penny followed, and in 1994, she played a recurring role in “The Secret World of Alex Mac.” And then when Flipper ended in 1997, Jessica had TV shows and agency assignments. One such assignment was to play Young Eve in “Venus Rising” in 1996. This was followed by “Chicago Hope” and PUNKS with Randy Quaid.
Jessica had amazing staying power as demonstrated by more television appearances; she landed two episodes in “Beverly Hills 90210” and then in the “Love Boat: The Next Wave”. Her work was however not confined to television. She posed for several magazines. The big screen was next: “Idle Hands,” “Never Been Kissed,” “Dark Angel” films that put her in the ranks of the Hollywood elite gang.
Jessica played opposite Bruce Willis in “Sin City” in 2005, based on Frank Miller’s novels. She played the role of Nancy, a stripper with a shameful past and lost innocence.
Jessica’s father was with the Air Force, reason why the family moved around a lot. Jessica was born in California on April 28, 1981, moved to Mississippi and then later to Del Rio, Texas. The family returned to southern California when Jessica was nine, just in time to be at the right place to fulfill her ambition to become an actress – an ambition she nurtured since age 5.
